SES Provider

ses provider

Certified as a Supplemental Educational Service provider, the John Corcoran Foundation is qualified to accept federal funding to set up remedial reading programs in schools. Their programs use multisensory methodologies ideal for teaching students who need intensive tutorial instruction. The Foundation guarantees to provide research-based instruction that leads to measurable gains for students.

Skilled, trained tutors provide support for struggling students, in small-group settings that help students develop confidence as they see their reading improve. Innovative software is used to provide support through the use of the highest quality interactive programs.

Students enrolled in the Colorado SES programs have improved reading scores by an average of one to two years, as measured by the Woodcock Reading Mastery Word Attack test, during the 45 tutorial sessions provided during the program year.

In Denver, Colorado, Garden Place Elementary third grade students gained 22 CSAP points during the 2004-2005 school year. Unsatisfactory scores dropped from 37 to 19 percent for that grade.

We are currently working with four school districts in California: Chula Vista, Inglewood, Los Angeles, and San Diego. We have partnered with a faith-based community center, a Community Empowerment Program, and a Community Development Corporation that provide computer labs to tutor children onsite, attending nearby Title I schools.
